28

It's after midnight. It's October 11th. I'm offically 28 years old, although I actually didn't slide through the birth canal until 12:35am.

It's also Thanksgiving here in Canada. For all you Americans out there, Canadian Thanksgiving falls on the 2nd Monday of October. I was actually born on Thanksgiving day (Monday) in 1982. So this year, my birthday being a Monday falls on Thanksgiving day.

I wish I felt more thankful this year.

I wish I had my beautiful, healthy, alive, 2 month old son to be thankful for.

I wish I wasn't so sad.

I wish, I wish, I wish...

  1. Happy Birthday!!

I know you are not at the place you'd like to be at 28 (without your son), but I do hope you have a good day overall.

I'm hoping and praying your 28th year will be your year - the year that things happen to bring you some joy. Mostly, I hope this is the year of your rainbow baby!

  3. Happy Birthday! I hope you find some joy and/or laughter today but don't beat yourself up about not feeling thankful. You have every right to feel whatever you feel.

  6. Happy Birthday, I hope you're able to find some moments of peace & maybe just a bit of joy this Birthday, I know it's hard after losing your son. My birthday was just a couple of weeks after losing Lily and it was very difficult to feel at all celebratory. The joyful moments in our lives tend to be clouded over by the sadness of who is missing in our lives, another reminder. Thinking of you & sending love ((hugs))

  8. I forgot who was it that said: "it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." You've been through a lot in your 28 years. I'm sure you feel 'older' than your age. I know this birthday is not what you expect, having lost Aidan and going through tremendous grief this year. But I hope that this day will give you peace and you'll be able to spend a meaningful time with the ones you love the most. A blessed birthday to you, Emily.
